Shirodhara is one of the most purifying and rejuvenating treatments, this therapy is designed in such a way that it not only eliminates harmful toxins from the body but also relieves stress, gets rid of mental exhaustion and treats a host of disorders.
The term Shirodhara comes from two Sanskrit words, where "Shiro" means head and "dhara" means flow. Together it is the pouring of warm herbal oils on the forehead (third eye chakra) from a specific height, for a specific amount of time in a continuous stream. The infusion of oils when poured onto the head and scalp produces a soothing and calming sensation, which in turn passes via the superficial peripheral nerves of the forehead. It treats conditions like insomnia, improves blood circulation, transports lymphatic fluids, mitigating stress, relieving muscular tension, balancing doshic elements. It even enhances the function of the central nervous system, treats anxiety, depression, and mental fatique and bestows a whole new experience to the mind and body.
This treatment involves the use of oil on the head and neck, please take note that something to cover your head should be worn after the treatment as the oil will be in your hair continuing to nourish the head.
